Remember when there was a time when it was cool to wear a t-shirt of your favorite rap artist/group’s logo on your chest? It seems like so long ago, but I doubt if you went to the mall today you see anyone wearing a T.I. t-shirt(do they even make those?), or a shirt with Common’s logo on it either. At one time, rap groups, their labels, and their promotions team did a great job getting their brand in front of potential customers. Two of the most memorable logos of any rap act are still popular today.
You had Lil Wayne paying homage to the Kings, Run-DMC…
You also haveAdult Star SaraJay rockin the Wutang Clan classic shirt
.
Since the mid 90’s, there has been one person who shamelessly promoted his product/brand better than anyone else in Hip Hop. He has never had the best product in the game since March 9th, 1997, yet he always knows where the cameras are, and you, as a consumer, always know what he’s selling. Of course, you guessed it…Diddy.

In a time where many rappers decided to start their own fashion labels that no one truly cared about, many wasted precious time marketing someone else’s hustle instead of their own brand identity. No matter what label you are signed too, what channel your videos come on, or what website your music is being displayed, your logo/brand face should be more recognizable than you. One artist out now who has also done very well with marketing himself is Eminem. Take a look at his new t-shirt available now on Eminem.com, promoting his latest CD, “Relapse”.
